The Kintampo Municipal Hospital has revealed that there was only one Ambulance to convey the passengers who had some parts of their bodies trapped in the mangled bus as the natives struggled to cut the vehicles to retrieve the dead and those alive.
The Administrator of Kintampo Municipal Hospital, Mr. Damasus Ayangba, who revealed this in an exclusive interview with Ghana Crusader .com said there was only one Ambulance at the Hospital to covey the affect Victims to the Emergency Unit because there is no Ghana Ambulance unit in Kintampo Municipality.
Last night when the incident happened, the Ambulance was able to pick two Victims at a time because it was designed only for two patients but we were able to manage the situation, he said.
Mr. Ayangba said, the Kintampo fire service was able come to the Hospital’s aid by providing them with an Ambulance in the night.
A collision between a Metro Mass Transit bus and a truck loaded with tomatoes is feared to have led to the death of about 48 people at Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo region.
The ghastly accident occurred at about 8.30pm Wednesday on the Kintampo-Tamale highway.
